Chickens

We’ve been raising chickens on pasture since 2008 according to the belief that animals should live happy, healthy lives and get to express their animal nature. These guys are never drugged, or caged. They leave their coops in the morning and usually make it back in by nightfall. We lose a lot of chickens to predators, but we consider that part of the bargain. What’s life without risk?

The chickens provide our main source of manure for the vegetable garden. We move their homes around our fields and they eat lots of the pests, and treat us to lots and lots of poop. We till right behind them and plant some of their favorite foods, and some of ours.

We’ll never be a giant chicken farm, but then again, who wants the poor food and sad conditions they provide. Our eggs and meat will always taste better, be safer, and leave you with a clear conscience.

We’d like to get you started with your own flock, and can get you going from any age you’d like; egg, chick, or adult. Take a look at what we have for sale and place an order.
