Sheep

Shetland Sheep, a hearty heritage breed from the Shetland Isles is known for it’s wool.  We have sold the flock and are no longer in the Shepherding business.  Originally purchased to use as lawn mowers, we were happy to have them on the farm.  While Shetlands aren’t typically used for milk or meat production they are an interesting and entertaining breed, perfect for a first time flock.

We have Roving!  2011 wool harvest from Calvin, Padraig, and Thistle.  Roving is used to spin into yarn, but we’ve since learned you can just spin Shetland wool straight from a clean fleece.

1 lb of Roving – $25, once spun equals 3 good sized skeins.  Natural fiber color – Cream.

We also have a couple of skins with the fleece, and ram horns.  Make us an offer.

We do have meat.  Sadly part of farming is culling animals.  Currently we have Mutton leg, shoulder, chops, and ground.  Tom will put up a price list.

Once our sheep are gone we will also be selling electric sheep netting-$100 roll, manual hand clippers-$20, nail trimmers-$15, and caretaking books 1/2 price on jacket.
