Vegetables

Black Bean Hummus garnished with Cayenne Pepper and Parsley and served with Celery and Cucumbers

We don’t grow anything we don’t also like to eat.  Luckily for our customers we like a lot of vegetables.  We start early in the year with greens, herbs, lettuce, peas, turnips, radishes, spring onions.  We continue through summer with garlic, tomatoes, peppers, summer squash, beets, celery, okra, eggplant, green beans, lima beans, cannellini beans, black beans, edamame, corn, more herbs.  In the fall we have greens again, lettuce, carrots, winter squash, sweet potatoes, and herbs still.  If you’d like to hop on to our seed order from FedCo to get bulk prices and reduced shipping, we place our order in December.  Get in touch with Tom.

We built our first Hoop House in January 2010 and it helped, but we are still working out some of the kinks. We burned lots of transplants with a few days of very high heat due to not venting enough, and we had a mob of mice that ate 98% of all our squash/pumpkin/melon seeds just as they were sprouting. Live and learn.

January 2011 we’ve added a 100′ high tunnel to our garden plot. This should allow us to produce some earlier and late growing veggies, and help with some pest problems.
